The Phlebotomy Technician Program will be a combination of weekly classes/labs and supporting textbook studies. The Program includes learning the techniques of collecting blood specimens by venipuncture, orders of draw, basic patient customer service skills, and accurate logging of specimens. Phlebotomy Certification The phlebotomy-training program is a non-credit, 200-hour program designed to train individuals in a classroom lecture and clinical setting to become a certified phlebotomist. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will earn a Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) certification test. The Phlebotomy Technician program at NACC prepares you for a rewarding career in healthcare. Phlebotomy technicians work under the supervision of medical laboratory technologists or laboratory managers and may be employed throughout the healthcare system. Training includes classroom instruction with clinical studies – experience that places you side-by-side with a seasoned phlebotomist or lab technician for real-life experience. Classes meet two nights per 12 weeks. Clinical studies follow over the next several weeks and are scheduled outside of class time. Upon successful completion, you may apply for national certification. While many employers do not require certification as a phlebotomy technician, your commitment to attaining that certification may provide you the advantage in the job market. |
